Atoms rearrange. Bonds break, new bonds form. Same atoms in, new molecules out.
Mix vinegar and baking soda → it FIZZES. Leave iron out in the rain → it RUSTS. Heat batter on a pan → PANCAKE. New stuff appeared. That's a CHEMICAL change.
